The Team

The Catalyst for Accountants team includes qualified accountants who have successfully built their own accountancy practices.

General Manager

Justin Viney
B Bus, Grad Dip Mgmt, FCPA, FAICD, AFPA

Justin Viney has worked in accountancy roles for over 25 years. He started his career in chartered accounting with KPMG and also worked in the mid-tier practice Hall Chadwick before establishing a successful practice of his own. His previous senior management roles include being the Finance Director of multi-national corporation, Tower Technology. He is currently on the board of several companies and non profit organisations. He is a financial planner and has established financial planning divisions in several accountancy practices. Justin knows what is required to create superior accountancy practices and how to implement this knowledge.

Andrew Geddes

Andrew is one of Australia's most experienced and pragmatic practice development coach, having spent over thirty years helping to improve practice profitability and morale in hundreds of financial advisory firms across Australia, UK and the USA. He specialises in expanding your range of business advisory and financial services to clients. Andrew sits on several listed boards, is the external chairman of ten professional service firms in different sectors, and coaches solo practitioners and individuals who excel in their specialisations.

David Smith
B Bus, FCA, FAICD, CISA

David is one of Australia's most experienced specialist independent IT consultant, having over 30 years involvement in accounting businesses. He was Managing Partner of PKF Sydney; President of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in 2003; created PKF CRS and Superfund software; and coaches practitioners in practice strategy, management & process improvement. David regularly speaks on the future of the profession and innovation and change management.

Brooke Emerson
Events Manager

Brooke has vast experience as an event specialist having worked across the financial services industry over the past seven years. In managing events, Brooke has coordinated a broad range of occasions, from PD Days, to conferences, to forums and workshops, and will ensure all events run are delivered in a professional and interesting environment.

Jane Appel
Marketing Projects Manager

With more than 10 years experience in marketing within the financial services industry, Jane has broad experience in promoting and communicating with accountants and financial planners on topics that relate to practice management and changes to the industry, and developing tools and materials to support accountants in delivering their service to clients.
